IMPORTANT CUSTOMER UPDATE

Government Tariffs and Customs Duties Effective September 8, 2026

Dear Valued Customers,

As many of you are aware, the Government of Canada announced new tariff countermeasures on August 25, 2026. As a result, additional customs duties will apply to certain products imported into Canada, including some products and materials used by our suppliers and manufacturers.

In some cases, duties on affected steel and aluminum imports from the United States will increase from 25% to 50%.

I want to be clear that these additional costs are government-imposed customs duties. They are not price increases by SRS Windows and Doors, our suppliers, or our manufacturers.

Like many Canadian businesses, we are still receiving updated information from our suppliers as they work through the impacts of these changes. Our commitment is to be transparent with our customers and only pass along costs that are directly charged to us.

Quick Summary

What you need to know: Effective September 8, 2026, certain products may be subject to new Government of Canada customs duties. These charges are not price increases from SRS Windows and Doors, our suppliers, or manufacturers, but government-imposed tariffs on specific imported products and materials. Any applicable charges will be shown separately on your order confirmation and invoice under “Surcharge / Customs Duties.” Products currently in SRS inventory will not be affected. Most Canadian-manufactured windows, doors, vinyl siding, aluminum siding, stone products, Alu-Rex products, and many Gentek-manufactured products are not expected to be impacted at this time. We have increased inventory on several affected product lines to help reduce the impact on our customers and will continue providing updates as more information becomes available.

How Customs Duties Will Be Applied

For products affected by these government tariffs, applicable duties will be added to your order confirmation and, where possible, shown as a separate line item on your invoice under:

Surcharge / Customs Duties

These charges will only be applied when customs duties are charged to SRS by our suppliers or manufacturers. If no duty is passed through to us, no surcharge will be applied to your order.

Products Currently in Inventory

Any affected products that are currently in SRS inventory will not be subject to these surcharge amounts.

To better serve our customers and help reduce the impact of these tariffs, we have proactively increased inventory levels on several products that may be affected. While we cannot eliminate these government-imposed costs, we are doing our best to delay or minimize their impact wherever possible.

Some manufacturers may use U.S.-sourced aluminum or steel components within finished products, such as window hardware, door hardware, accessories, brackets, fasteners, or other manufactured components. Where those imported materials attract duties and those costs are passed through to us, applicable surcharges may be added accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I seeing a surcharge on my order?

The surcharge reflects customs duties imposed by the Government of Canada on certain imported products and materials. These are government charges and not price increases from SRS.

Is SRS making money on these surcharges?

No.

These charges are intended to recover customs duties charged to us by our suppliers and manufacturers. They are not being applied as an additional profit margin.

Will every order be affected?

No.

Only products that are subject to customs duties and where those duties are passed through to SRS will be subject to a surcharge.

Are products already in inventory affected?

No.

Products currently in inventory at SRS will not be subject to tariff-related surcharges.

Are Canadian-made windows and doors affected?

At this time, most Canadian-manufactured windows, doors, vinyl siding, aluminum siding, and stone products supplied through Gentek are not expected to be affected.

However, some products may contain imported components such as hardware or accessories that could be impacted.

How will I know if my order is affected?

Any applicable surcharge will be identified on your order confirmation and shown separately on your invoice whenever possible.

Is this permanent?

At this time, we do not know.

These tariffs are government policies that may change as trade agreements, negotiations, and countermeasures evolve.

Will SRS keep customers informed?

Absolutely.

We are in regular communication with suppliers and manufacturers and will continue providing updates as additional information becomes available.
